Nepal, a mesmerizing landlocked country nestled between China and India, is renowned for its majestic mountain peaks. Within its small borders, Nepal proudly boasts eight of the world’s highest peaks, including the majestic Mount Everest, the tallest mountain on the planet. With a population exceeding 26 million people, Nepal is a melting pot of diverse races and tribes, with over a hundred distinct ethnic groups, each preserving their unique identity and cultural heritage. This makes Nepal one of the most extraordinary countries in terms of its multi-ethnic, multi-lingual, and multi-cultural composition. Spanning an area of 147,181 square kilometers, the capital city of Kathmandu, known as the “city of temples,” is a significant cultural hub. Nepal holds the distinction of being the birthplace of Lord Buddha and remains one of the few countries never colonized in history. Moreover, this enchanting nation is blessed with abundant natural water sources. With its breathtaking Himalayan vistas, sacred temples, picturesque hill villages, and diverse flora and fauna, Nepal truly stands as a trekkers’ paradise and one of the world’s most incredible travel destinations.

Nepal’s incredible biodiversity can be attributed to its unique topography. With a vast range of altitudes within a short distance, the country experiences diverse climates, from tropical to arctic, spanning fewer than 100 miles. Additionally, Nepal’s location in the overlapping region of the Palaearctic and Oriental realms further enriches its flora and fauna.

Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu is Nepal’s sole international airport, offering direct flights from various countries. Airlines such as Gulf Air, fly Dubai, Indian Airlines, Thai Airways, and more facilitate travel to Kathmandu. Alternatively, visitors with a valid visa can also enter Nepal through India or China.

Unlike the Western world’s four seasons, Nepal boasts six distinct seasons. These include Basanta Ritu (Spring), Grishma Ritu (Summer), Barsha Ritu (Rainy), Sharad Ritu (Autumn), Hemanta Ritu (Pre-winter), and Shishir Ritu (Winter). Each season brings its own unique charm to the picturesque landscapes of Nepal.

Nepal is known for its low crime rate and overall safety, making it a secure country. As a newly democratic nation, it fosters a vibrant political landscape with active parties and leaders. While occasional disturbances may occur in certain areas, they do not disrupt the daily lives of residents, who continue with their usual routines undisturbed.

To obtain a visa for Nepal, the recommended approach is to apply at Nepalese diplomatic missions in your country. Alternatively, visas can be obtained from the Immigration Office at Nepal’s entry points. For convenience, visa on arrival is available at Tribhuvan Airport, except for citizens of Nigeria, Ghana, Zimbabwe, Swaziland, Cameroon, Somalia, Liberia, Ethiopia, Iraq, Palestine, and Afghanistan. The park permit allows for a single-day visit with multiple entries inside the park. It can be used on the first day inside the park and the following day within the buffer zone forest. Foreign nationals are required to pay $17 per person per day, while SAARC nationals pay $8.

The ideal time to visit Chitwan is between October and March, with clear skies and a pleasant average daily temperature of 25°C. For optimal wildlife viewing, late January to March is recommended, as villagers slash the elephant grass, improving visibility. During the monsoon season (June to mid-September), jeep safaris within the park are challenging due to impassable tracks, but can be enjoyed in the buffer zone forest.

We understand the importance of accommodation choices and can arrange resorts in Sauraha based on your preferences, be it budget, standard, or luxurious. Please note that accommodation options are limited in Madi-village and Ghatgain-village. For detailed information, feel free to contact UJGS.

The walking experience in Chitwan National Park is categorized as easy and suitable for all walkers capable of walking 5-6 hours a day with a light day pack. On certain days, the walking duration may exceed 6 hours. It is recommended to exercise and walk regularly prior to the trip for improved strength and stability. No technical skills are required, but it is important to inform UNITED JUNGLE GUIDE SERVICE about any preexisting medical conditions or disabilities that may increase the risk of requiring medical attention.

For your comfort and convenience during your hike, we recommend packing essential items such as hiking boots and socks, trekking pants, informal shirts and t-shirts, waterproof jackets and trousers (depending on the season), fleece jackets and pullovers (depending on the season), mosquito repellent, sun hat/warm hat, sunglasses, tissues, sun protection, water, antibacterial hand wash, lunch (depending on the distance of the walk), and a day backpack. Personal medications are also important. Please note that bright-colored clothes like red, white, and yellow are not permitted inside the jungle. You can find various gear options available for purchase in Chitwan. Kindly ensure that you carry all equipment and items yourself.

Trekking is more than just a leisurely walk; it’s a chance to immerse yourself in pristine wilderness away from modern development. While physical fitness is important, you don’t need bulging muscles to be fit for trekking. You don’t have to be a mountaineer or an athlete either. Anyone with strong legs and a desire to explore nature’s wonders can experience the thrill of trekking.

We simply encourage you to make small lifestyle changes months before your trek. Opt for stairs instead of escalators, cycle, swim, jog, cross-country ski, or engage in aerobic exercises regularly. These activities will greatly benefit you. Don’t expect to be in peak shape after a few days of walking. As you ascend towards a 5,000-meter high pass after 3-4 days of trekking, you’ll appreciate the preparation you put in. So, let your journey to discover unique landscapes be accompanied by the joy of regular workouts beforehand.

During trekking, it is common to walk approximately 3 hours before a lunch break and another 2 hours after. Tea House treks may require 8-9 hours of walking per day, as you rely on trail-side lodges for accommodation and provisions. With Full Catered Camping Treks, you have more flexibility in choosing daily distances since you are not bound by a specific destination. Our porters and trekking crews will carry all necessary provisions for your convenience.

Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered. Leave your concerns to us and enjoy your trek worry-free. We will take care of all the necessary equipment. You can bring general items such as comfortable walking boots, a waterproof jacket, T-shirts, a woolen cap and gloves, sunglasses, a Swiss knife, sunburn creams, binoculars, a camera, films, reading material, and a first-aid kit. Remember, you can easily purchase or rent these trekking items and equipment in Nepal.

We specialize in custom-made treks tailored to your schedule and preferences. Contact us, and we will be delighted to create an itinerary that matches your interests. Your satisfaction is our priority, and we look forward to crafting a memorable trekking experience for you.

Our day begins with a hearty breakfast before we embark on our trek. You can walk at your own pace, and there’s no pressure to keep up with others as our experienced guides will be there with you. We trek for approximately three to four hours before taking a lunch break. Afterward, we continue our journey and typically reach our overnight stop by mid-afternoon, ensuring a comfortable and well-paced trekking experience.

To ensure your comfort and convenience during the trek, we recommend packing essential items such as hiking boots and socks, trekking pants and trousers, informal shirts and t-shirts, a waterproof jacket and trousers, a fleece jacket and pullover, thermal gloves, a sun hat/warm hat, sunglasses, a headlamp with spare batteries, sun protection, water bottles (1 liter capacity is recommended), antibacterial hand wash, a towel, trekking poles (optional), a sleeping bag rated to -20 degrees, and a down jacket.

Please note that these accessories are considered essential for a pleasant trekking experience. You have the option to hire or purchase these gear in Kathmandu. All equipment and personal items will be carried by the porters, with a weight limitation of approximately 12-15 kg.

During your trek, you will be accommodated in twin rooms in locally run lodges known as teahouses, supporting small local businesses. The rooms are simply furnished with a bed and sometimes a small table. Please bring your own sleeping bag. While a few lodges have attached toilets, washing and toilet facilities are typically shared and may be located separately or outside the teahouse. It’s a wonderful experience to connect with fellow travelers and share stories in the dining area during the evenings. Solo travelers will be paired with someone of the same sex within the group, unless a single room is requested and available for an additional cost. However, please note that single rooms may not always be feasible in higher elevation teahouses. We guarantee single rooms in Kathmandu, Pokhara, Sauraha, and lower elevation areas, but availability may vary as you ascend to higher elevations. Rest assured, we always strive to provide the best possible arrangements for our clients.

During the trek, we offer standard breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with tea or coffee included in each meal. Your guide will assist in selecting meals that offer the best value. While the meals are generally plentiful and delicious, please note that the menu options may not be extensive. Most teahouses provide a variety of rice and noodle dishes, soups, and seasonal vegetables. You can purchase bottled mineral water from nearby lodges and shops along the route. Alternatively, you may ask your guide to fill your water bottle with boiled water (additional cost applies) and treat it with water purification tablets.

During the trek, a porter will carry your main bags, so please keep them as light as possible, around 12 kg. You will only need to carry a day pack containing essentials like a water bottle, camera, suncream, spare jacket, etc. While trekking, you can leave your valuable items at the lodge. Many lodges offer a locker system and provide deposit slips for safekeeping. Additionally, you can leave any extra belongings that are not required for the trek in your main luggage at the lodge. Rest assured that your belongings will be secure and you can travel with ease.

During the tea house trek, you will have a dedicated team of local crew members whose primary goal is to ensure your trek is relaxed and enjoyable. The team comprises a trek guide/leader and a group of porters responsible for carrying your gear. On average, there will be one porter for every two trekkers. The success, enjoyment, and lasting memories of your trek greatly depend on the skills, experience, courtesy, and helpfulness of the trek guide and crew members, who work diligently to ensure smooth operations during your days in the mountains. Rest assured that your day trips will be led by experienced trek guides carefully selected based on their excellent track record, leadership abilities, and personal aptitude.

During this trek, you will be provided with breakfast, lunch, and dinner. You will need cash for table drinks (alcoholic/non-alcoholic beverages), snacks while walking (smaller shops are available along the path in certain areas), tips, souvenirs, and hot showers (available in select places).

Our days on the trek begin with packing our belongings and enjoying a satisfying breakfast. We then embark on the day’s walk, typically lasting 3-4 hours before stopping for a midday lunch break. The afternoon walk is usually shorter, allowing us to reach our destination in time for afternoon tea. The remainder of the day offers opportunities to explore the village, take care of personal tasks like laundry, or simply relax with a good book. Some days, we may arrive at our destination by lunchtime, leaving the entire afternoon free. After dinner, evenings are often spent playing cards and sharing stories before a well-deserved restful sleep.

The itinerary for your trek can be adjusted to some extent based on the prevailing conditions, after consulting with your trek guide. However, it is important to ensure that the trek concludes on the originally planned date. Please keep in mind that this is an adventure into remote regions where unforeseen circumstances may necessitate itinerary changes. In such cases, we or your guide will recommend the best alternative that aligns with your original plan. Your safety and overall trek experience remain our top priorities.

Before commencing the trek, our experienced guide will provide essential safety information specific to trekking in the Himalayas of Nepal. They will brief you on crucial aspects such as trail conditions, altitude sickness prevention, weather conditions, emergency procedures, and general safety guidelines. This ensures that you are well-informed and prepared for the journey ahead. Your safety is our utmost priority, and we aim to equip you with the necessary knowledge to have a safe and enjoyable trekking experience in the majestic Himalayas of Nepal.

The Annapurna and Poon Hill Trek is classified as a moderate trek, suitable for walkers who can comfortably walk 4-5 hours a day with a light day pack. On certain days, you may need to walk for longer durations. It is recommended to engage in regular exercise and running in the weeks leading up to the trip to improve your strength and stability. No technical skills are required for this trek.

In the unlikely event of a serious illness or emergency, we have arrangements for ambulance or helicopter rescue. However, please note that you will be responsible for all expenses associated with the evacuation. We strongly advise ensuring that your insurance plan covers such circumstances or being prepared to personally cover the costs upon returning to Kathmandu. Your safety is paramount, and we want to ensure that you are well-prepared for any unforeseen situations.

Please note that a personal tour insurance plan is not included in the mentioned prices. However, for the safety and protection of all participants, it is mandatory to have a personal tour insurance policy in place before booking. We highly recommend obtaining a comprehensive “Trip cancellation and medical insurance plan” prior to your arrival in Kathmandu. This coverage is particularly crucial for those trekking in high altitudes. It provides protection for injuries, loss of baggage, medical expenses, emergency air ambulance or helicopter rescue services, and even unfortunate events leading to trip cancellation. Your well-being is our utmost priority, and having adequate insurance coverage ensures peace of mind throughout your journey.

Tipping is a customary gesture to express gratitude for excellent service. While tips are not considered part of the wages for guides, porters, and trek crew, they are greatly appreciated. It is important to note that tipping is voluntary and should be based on the level of service provided. Typically, tips are given at the end of the trek and are often done as a group. Many groups mark the last evening with a small ceremony or even a celebration to signify the end of the trip. The amount of the tip is discretionary and can vary depending on your budget and appreciation for their hard work.
